Mid 19th century. Iron hilt with lobed pommel, checkered grip and disk terminal down turned cross guard with broad langets. 31 5/8" curved wedge section s.e. blade with long raised ricasso. Blade shows spotty gray patina with frosty to light pitting. Hilt dark and quite crisp with some isolated rusting. Rare form Westernizing the Persian tradition.
